Last Fridays Mixes Online
Here you can download the recording of last Fridays party at the Arrow Bar in Manhattan containing a lot of MJ, Teena Marie and other funky and Wavy stuff . Forgive me for the bad mixing and a few breaks - we had technical difficulties with the stereo and one of the turntables was broken...But it was still a lot of fun, thanks so much to everyone who came down. There might be a few pictures coming soon as well.

NY on the Bike Vol. 1
We went on a 54k bike ride through the city on Sunday (the weather was just too wonderful to stay in) to explore the bike lanes on both the east- and the west side of Manhattan and Roosevelt Island.
Obviously the views you get on the east side are better, but the bike/walking path along the FDR sucks! It's noisy, dirty and bumpy and for a long distance there's no room for bikes at all.
Roosevelt Island on the other Hand is almost completely car-free which makes it a joy to ride over there, even though the noise from the FDR travels across the water and distacts you a bit from looking at this lighthouse:
Nr. 1 Fitness-fruit banana and Balsen Butterkekse are a must on every bike ride!
Quiet on the left, Queensborough bridge in the middle (by far the nastiest of the NY bridges for cyclists) Manhattan and the noisy FDR on the right.
Certainly the best thing about the trip was (apart from the muscles we gained) the ride on the cable car back from Roosevelt Island to Manhattan. You - dear reader - might know that very cable car from the finale of the Spiderman movie, and as you can guess - the view is impressive. And one can ride it with the metrocard which is quite a good deal.
1st Ave from above, but please don't lean on it.
3 famous skyscrapers from a new point of view (if you can name all 3 of them, we still got some freshly caught fish from the east river here that you can win!)
And again, the Queensborough bridge. So dirty....

Pool Time
The good thing about the summer in the city is, that the pools are opening - and even better - that they're for free. The only thing one needs to get used to in order to enjoy the cool water is the insane amount of rules the city came up with for the pools.
We went last weekend to the one in Red Hook (The Red Hook Recreation Centre) to see 20 lifeguards (yes! 20) guarding the public part of the pool which is approximately 40x40 m. TWENTY!
And all of them constantly whistled at people to tell them off having fun. It was amazing. Of course Camera Diaz' are forbidden in the pool area as well, so I couldn't sneak out a picture of the jail like scene but I will try to get one for you - dear reader - on my next trip down there.

Commercial Update
I was about to go on a Snickers Campaign Safari with Camera Diaz, but luckily I someone posted most of the billboards on I Believe in Advertising, saves me a lot of time and trouble:
Klick on the Pics for more....
This Lego Campaign is really good, but also a bit off in my opinion, especially shortly after the 20th memorial of the Tiananmen massacre.
The location where this spot was shot is a few blocks down the street from the office, and as you - dear reader - can guess, everything down there really is made of cardboard. I checked it personally this afternoon when I got an iced pappe down there.
Tonight: DJ Orion and Lupo at Royale
Tonight from 10 to 4 my friend David and I will spin some nice tunes from the last decades of serious dance music at the Royale in Park Slope. If you - dear reader - have nothing planned for the night yet, come over and dance the night away, we would be delighted to see you there.
And if you can't make, we will try to tape that 6 hour marathon and post it here soon, on this digital musical flee market.
