Let's enhance

Just to give you - dear reader - an idea what computers are capable of nowadays, we here at buck do stuff like that. Enhance on logos, scaling up shitty footage, the whole nine yards. We also try playing as much dramatic music as possible in the background, when we do so.

Wow!

SARS, Socialism, Profiling, Views on Russia, Border Patroling - you name it. My favourite: "We need to get the polar bears of the endangered list to drill there!"
And I thought the election was fun, but the real comedy is just about to start.

Fantastic Mr. Fox Sets at Bergdorf Goodman

At BergdorfGoodman, a fancy department store on 57th and 5th ave, the Display windows are showing original sets from the new Wes Anderson movie "Fantastic Mr. Fox" based on a book by Roald Dahl. The movie blew our mind and seeing the amazingly beautiful crafted props and puppets was magical. Check them out until January 4th 2010!

Animation Domination Rip Off

Pretty funny, even though it's strange to see a parody of your own work online. Hahaha.

The Bravery "Slow Poison"

We just finished this music video for The Bravery here at Buck NY. Everything came together, a short deadline, tons of design, comp and editorial work, 2 shoots (One of them on the moon), basically no life outside of the office for 4 weeks and we had to listen to the song at least 10 times a day. If there's a karaoke contest of Slow Poison somewhere we totally gonna rule! Enjoy it here: CLICK

Also there are - as usual - some nice pictures from the shoot on the green screen moon on the Buck site: CLICK

Halloween 09

That was fun! Not only that I saw a costume store on Saturday night that was completely messed up and emptied, but also tons of beautiful and creative costumes covering up drunk people jumping through the streets of Brooklyn.

Anna and Mike invited us to their new studio and took those beautiful pictures, thanks again so much for that!

The Kiwis (in super cute homemade costumes) tried to sneak in every picture that was taken that night, understandable in this case though, because they wanted to join their Grape friends for a beautiful Still Life.

My personal favourite: The Damian Hirst Installation Costume!

And a little note on the side, we were working pretty hard the last few weeks, that's why there was no time to post whatsoever. But the result looks great and can be found here soon....

Happy Birthday Manhattan Bridge

The Manhattan Bridge turned 100 years old today. It was designed by Ralph Modjeski and Leon Moiseff and was the last of the 3 bridges connecting Brooklyn with Manhattan. Even though it's very noisy to cross, because you're walking or biking next to trains and cars, the view is stunning and it's never as busy as the Brooklyn Bridge, which makes it a joy to cyclists that are sick running into tourists on the bike lane.
Also worth to check out after a walk across the bridge: Joseph Pelling and Dan Britts short movies.

Fox Animation Domination

Fox asked Buck NY to redesign their Sunday night Animation Domination marathon and allowed the famous cartoon characters to interact with our bold font characters, that are kind of mean for some reason. The result is a fun and colourful ride with a decent amount of yelling and insanity. Click on the pics to watch...

Stuff for September

Sorry dear reader for being so lousy about posting lately but it was pretty busy the last weeks, which doesn't mean I didn't come across some amazing stuff on the superdatahighway:
First of all I found this really interesting Blog called " \ \ \ " putting up some nice big contemporary art pieces in huge pictures (That inspired me to overwork the Layout of TAJ...more of that soon)

On this very blog i found works of Kazuki Takamatsu that really impressed me. Basically it looks like a depth pass of 3D anime characters but apparently it's gouache paintings.

Chris Chairns came up with a short movie called Neurosonics Audiomedical Laboratory with music by the Scratch Perverts:

Neurosonics Audiomedical Labs Inc. from Chris Cairns on Vimeo.

Helen found a Sketch Website called Odosketch,

where you can - well - guess what - yes - sketch your little things and then you can see the process of the sketch like this jammy here: (klick on it!)

And last but not least my new favorite DJ from the UK, Joy Orbison finally released his 2 bangers Hyph Mngo and Wet Look on Hotflush.

Can't wait to play it out loud!!!
Check his mixtapes HERE
